Over a period of some 15 years we, at Country Lifestyle Exhibitions Ltd, have worked with Emma Cowan from Summerisland Consulting on a number of projects including marketing consulting projects, publishing and event organising. We have found Emma to be a most creative and competent  person with wide ranging skills in creative writing, PR, event management and the design and production of promotional  literature and magazines across a wide range of markets. Emma combines the rare qualities of creative flair, the ability to take a brief  and the focus to deliver projects on time.

I have known Emma Cowan since February 2007 when she was the Editor of Ability Northern Ireland, Specify, and Hospitality Review. Since we first met I have been very impressed by her unstinting professionalism that is reflected in the high quality of every task she undertakes. Emma can be relied on to invariably produce creative, informed and expertly presented imagery and text for a comprehensive range of requirements. In addition to her many competencies Emma is a very confidential, empathetic and perceptive woman, and it is in this respect that she has proved invaluable to me in recent years. I provide a busy and successful private practice for a wide range of psychological problems. My sessions with clients are digitally recorded and Emma routinely writes up the initial assessment sessions. She is consequently entrusted with highly confidential and often sensitive information. The attention to detail and quality of product has been exceptional. In addition, her expertise has also been greatly appreciated in the preparation of my press releases, and the compilation and submission of clinical reports to a wide variety of professional agencies. I would unreservedly recommend Emma Cowan as an honest, reliable and dedicated professional who will always deliver what is required.

I have known Emma for twenty years as an employee and colleague. In that time she has been of considerable support to Greer Publications in various roles, especially as Editor of Catering & Licensing Review during its re-launch as Hospitality Review NI. Emma is not only capable of writing, editing, and magazine designing, but has a good instinct for public relations and marketing, having had all-round experience in her varied career. During that period she demonstrated all these talents to great effect for a very successful re-launch of a thirty year old title.

For a number of years she was also a well-respected Editor of Specify magazine, our construction trade journal, building up good relationships with the leading figures in the industry, even representing the company as a guest speaker at the prestigious annual Northern Ireland Construction Excellence Awards.

Such is the confidence we had in Emma, we asked her to deputise as Editor of our flagship magazine Ulster Business, Northern Ireland’s leading business magazine, for a period we were between Editors.

She is a person of integrity, dedicated to her family and work, and at all times I have found her to be hard-working, conscientious, and courteous. I recognised her long-held ambition to start her own magazine, but would happily re-employ Emma as I considered her to be a valuable member of the Greer Publications team, who consistently achieved good results and delivered all expectations.

I would be delighted to endorse Emma Cowan's contribution to RDA. Since 2009, Emma has been responsible for the design and layout of our twice yearly editions of RDA News. The Northern Ireland Region of RDA is one of only two regions in the UK to produce a magazine. Emma always completes an excellent job and meets deadlines. The Northern Ireland Region of RDA wishes to thank her for her for her continued support.

As the closing date for the Irish Dentistry Awards 2014 loomed Emma Cowan of Summerisland stepped in with only two weeks to deadline! She just absorbed the tight constraints and set about constructing what turned out to be three brilliant pieces of high quality work. I wrote some pieces to give Emma an idea about me and my direction. She refined all this without losing my style and just made everything much more lucid. She was proactive in finding out everything about my practice so that we could really put our best foot forward. After the words were settled, Emma brought a really newsy and clear structure to the layout of our entry . Her professionalism and clarity of presentation were superb and I will definitely be going back to her with more PR projects in the future.

Emma and I have worked together on several projects over the last six years. As editor of Flavour magazine I worked closely with Emma in her role as managing editor. Her experience and skills in design and editorial were invaluable to the production process. This combination is one that very few others in the industry would share and Emma’s creative ability in both areas make her the perfect ‘one stop shop’ for any design and content project.
